At the cutting edge of research and innovation for nearly four decades
Our History
Founded in 1987, we set out to develop innovative medical and industrial diagnostic kits utilizing immunoglobulins (antibodies). Our early research identified the specific protein derived from eggs (IgY) as the ideal antibody type for these applications. Our further research created proprietary methods for the production and delivery of target immunogens to the hen. This patented method yields high volumes of customized antibodies.
In 1996, Camas transitioned from diagnostic reagents to direct interventions for agricultural animals. The industry was in need of a cost-effective, highly efficient response to pathogenic challenges. Camas set out to deliver low-cost, non-antibiotic, targeted antibodies directly to animals through their feed. Currently, we market products for bovine, porcine, and equine. We are always expanding the reach of our technology to other species, including potential human applications. We remain at the forefront of research by partnering with select universities and other respected researchers around the world. We pursue emerging threats to improve existing and future products and can scale up quickly to meet these demands. Camas products are monitored and tested to meet the highest standards for efficacy and quality.
Our Technology
Using advanced biotechnology, our scientists develop avian antibodies, specifically Immunoglobulin Y (IgY), to target pathogens in humans, livestock, and companion animals. The process begins by immunizing hens, which produce high quantities of IgY antibodies that are subsequently extracted from the eggs. The ability to produce large volumes of high-quality, customizable IgY antibodies at a low cost enables a broad spectrum of potential uses across various industries.
